Where (else) to buy indies

By | March 25, 2013

So you’ve been bitten by the polish bug and your ulta3, OPI or Zoya just isn’t cutting it anymore. Enter the world of indie polishes.

The lacquer world is undergoing a huge boom with indie polishes – a little over a year ago there was only a small handful of indie polish makers, now there are new creators popping up every week.

Etsy without a doubt is a gold mine for indies. Type in “nail polish” or “indie polish” into the search bar and the possibilities are endless.

If you like to live on the wild side (and your credit card isn’t already cowering in fear) there are several e-tailers that offer a wide variety of different indie brands, and stock some polishes that otherwise may not be available to us Aussies.

Apart from Femme Fatale Cosmetics, the first Australian indie distributor which we posted about last week, some international distributors ship to Australia:

Ninja Polish

Overall Beauty

Harlow & Co

Shoppe Eclecticco

A little closer to home, we have a dozen indie brands that are all owned and operated by Aussie ladies! (and a few Aussie blokes who have been wrestled in to help, but shh, we won’t tell if you don’t)

Below is a quick guide to the Aussie indie lacquers that are currently available…

Whilst it’s never been easier to get your hands on indie polishes, it’s important to remember that not all lacquers are made equal and you should still proceed with caution when dealing with unknown brands.

As a polish and craft addict Rachael is often surrounded (read: buried) by several stacks of various materials. When she’s not creating she can often be found stalking blogs, reading, or being distracted by sparkly things. She spends her spare time promoting equal rights for zombies. Decaying people need love too.

You can follow one of her split personalities on Instagram (@thepolishedclaw).
